Darton State golf coach Bill Jones recently inked three signees that should have a strong impact on the Cavalier golf program beginning this fall.

Oglethorpe County High’s Jake O’Bryan, Seminole County High’s Tyler Shamblin and Joshua Glossop, of West Sussex, England, have all committed to the Cavalier team.

O'Bryan is from Lexington, and has had a great junior golf career already, including a recent win in the SJGT's UGA Golf Course Junior Classic, where he shot 71-80 in extremely cold and windy conditions. Jake lost in a playoff at the SJGT Sanctuary Cove Junior Classic just two weeks before his victory at UGA.

“Jake has had five other top-15 finishes on the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour since 2010,” Jones said. “And I believe he will prove to be a key player for the Cavaliers next season. Jake is a quality player that has shown steady improvement over the past year, and I know he will have an immediate impact on the squad next fall."

Glossop was brought to Coach Jones' attention by a former Cavalier star, Oliver Turnill. Turnill, who played on the Cavaliers' 2007 National Championship team and was a 1st Team All-American, now works for a recruiting agency in London.

"Josh is a very talented player, and I couldn't think of a better place for him to begin his collegiate golf career than Darton" Turnill said.

Josh won the 2011 Worthing Junior Open, shooting 71-69, and also became the Sussex Boys County Champion. Following that breakout season, he became part of the Southeast Regional England Team, which is composed of the top 10 U-18 players in Southeast England. Josh also won the British Schools Southeast Order of Merit.

"I'm very excited to bring another talented international player to Darton State College next season,” Jones said. “ Josh will be a great asset to the program and we look forward to him joining the Cavaliers in August."

Shamblin, a native of Donalsonville, is currently the club champion at Crooked Oak in Colquitt and is a two-time Region 1-A Golf Championship medalist. Tyler finished tied for 7th at the 2012 Class-A State Championship.

"Tyler is a raw talent out of Southwest Georgia, and a player like Tyler can thrive in our program with his competitive nature and personal drive to be successful," Jones said.
