J. Michael Kiefer
July 2013 began Mike Kiefer’s seventh year as Athletic Director at Darton State College. Kiefer has also served as Dean of Health, Physical Education and Athletics division the last five years. In the past six years Darton State College Athletics has won over 30 Conference/Region Championships in the sports of Men’s Soccer, Women’s Soccer, Men’s Cross Country, Women’s Cross Country, Basketball, Men’s Swimming, Women’s Swimming, Golf, Wrestling, Baseball and Softball. All 11 of DSC athletic programs have achieved national rankings in the last three years alone including top ten NJCAA rankings in Women’s Soccer, Men’s Soccer, Men’s Swimming, Women’s Swimming, Wrestling, Golf, Basketball and Softball.
During Kiefer’s tenure, Cavalier Athletes have received over 50 All-American honors and nearly 100 All Conference/Region performers. Additionally DSC enjoyed equal success in the classroom with numerous athletes receiving Academic All-American honors including multiple Distinguished Academic All Americans with perfect 4.0 GPA’s. The Cavalier golf, cross country, softball, and women’s swimming teams have each received a NJCAA Academic Team of the Year recognition. The Athletic Department finished in the top 15 nationally the in the final NATYCAA Athletic Director’s Cup rankings four of the last five years including a 4th place national ranking in 2013.
Kiefer began his leadership duties at Darton on July 16, 2007. Prior to his arrival as a Cavalier, Kiefer served as Director of Athletics, Head Soccer Coach and Faculty member at Neosho County College in Chanute, Kan., since 2002. While at Neosho County College, Kiefer directed 14 intercollegiate sports. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Philosophy from University of Missouri-Rolla, a Masters in Exercise Science from the University of Central Missouri, and an Executive Juris Doctorate.
