Cavs Win Game Four!

Darton State College beat Western Wyoming Community College, 3-1, in Game 4 of the NJCAA D-1 Soccer Championship tournament.

The Cavaliers entered the game as the No. 1-tournament seed and quickly scored on a free kick by sophomore midfielder Troy Tucker in the fifth minute of the match.

Western Wyoming answered quickly in the ninth minute when forward Jarom Stuart of the Mustangs headed in a corner kick by Jared Jess, who thus earned an assist.

Cavalier sophomore Jowayne Laidley scored what would become the game-winner in the 25th minute, thanks to assists by Andrew Palumbo and Alejandro Garcia.

Darton led at halftime, 2-1.

Barrington Wright nailed a penalty kick to score a third goal for the Cavs in the 83rd minute.

Darton had 27 shots and 16 shots on goal. The Mustangs had five shots and two shots on goal.

The Cavaliers now lead Pool A. They will play No. 8-seed Western Texas, Wednesday, at noon in Game 9.

Western Texas and Western Wyoming will class Tuesday at 5 p.m., as pool play continues.
