David Dews
Head Softball Coach

David Dews begins his first year as head coach of the Darton College softball program. Darton has always been a perennial powerhouse in the GJCAA conference and will try to continue that successful trend. Coach Dews comes to Darton with a very successful background and years of experience. He is well known for his recruiting and offensive abilities. Many consider him to be one of the best young coaches in the game. Dews will attempt to make the Darton program a national powerhouse in the years to come.

Prior to being named the head softball coach, Dews has coached at Wallace Community College-Dothan,AL and Lurleen B. Wallace in Andalusia, AL. At Dothan, Coach Dews was the head assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. David helped Dothan win three straight state juco titles and four straight division titles while he was there. In addition to the state titles, they were consistently ranked nationally in the top ten every year. He was also a vital part of sending over 27 players to four year institutions, which included players in the SEC and ACC. At Lurleen B. Wallace, Dews built the softball program into a state contender in two years. He helped take them to back to back state tournaments and become a competitor in Alabama's tough Southern Division. He also was responsible for sending six players on to four year institutions. His track record for building first class programs and helping players move on to the next level make this an exciting time for Darton Softball.

"My goal is to bring high caliber athletes into my structured program and help develop them along. I want to help the kid's move on to the next level and be successful. We've had success in the past by getting great athletes to join the program and buy in to what we are doing. It has been a winning formula." - David Dews
